CMV Seizure Photos
Use of the commercial motor vehicle is the preferred method of smuggling organizations and suspects for the shipment and movement of large quantities of illegal drugs and other contraband. These organizations can usually operate with little fear of detection and apprehension due to the fact that most uniformed patrol officers have no training or experience as it relates to the commercial truck industry and the schemes utilized by the traffickers. Therefore, most officers do not even stop commercial trucks as part of their routine traffic enforcement.
Our Criminal Patrol/Drug Interdiction course devotes an entire day educating officers on the importance of commercial motor vehicle criminal interdiction and how they can make a difference. Many commercial motor vehicle drug interdiction courses taught to officers are instructed by individuals who are or were DOT (Department of Transportation) certified to specifically enforce federal regulations of the commercial trucking industry. We pride ourselves with the fact that we have seized more than 30,000 pounds of illegal drugs from commercial trucks without having DOT statutory authority. Our course material and instruction is designed to teach the officer from a non-DOT perspective due to the fact that most officers do not have statutory authority over commercial trucks. The student will learn common terminology used in the industry, the significance of the markings on the truck, how to review and understand related paperwork, how to assess the driver and/or occupants, and finally how to search the vehicle.
